Innsbruck is within
the Inn River Valley. It was inhabited by the Illyrian people. Their urns are
primarily located in Vois, Hotting and Muhlau. Birga was the name of their
settlement.
The Inntal Valley
crosses with Wippotal Valley. It also accesses the Brenner.
Innsbruck is part
of the Igls, Arzl and Vill village areas as well. Sometime in the 6th
century the Bavarians came here.
The Eisacktal
Valley became part of Innsbruck during 1027. Both the Wilten Monastery and Amras
Castle was erected in 1138. The Imperial Palace was built in 1460. The Golden
Roof was constructed in 1500.
The Opera House and
Theater was built around 1629. Then in 1669, the University at Insbruck was
built.
Among the local
events are Christmas Market, the World Masters der Professionals, Osterfestival,
the Nokia Air & Style, the Air & Style Snowboard Contest, the Europacup Zweier-und
Viererbob, Christmas Celebrations, the Innsbruck Mountain New Year’s Eve, the
Innsbrucker Messe and the Tanzsommer.
